Want to work from home? Is working from home easy to start? What kind of home based business work is available and when can you fire your boss? What are some legitimate work from home businesses?
First of all, don't fire your boss, not yet anyway. Working from home is very rewarding but it's not for everyone. Is it for you? Could you start a home based business in your spare time.? What could you do?

What I'm about to tell you will either break you or make you decide you can do this. It's important that you really reflect on what I'm about to ask you, even discuss it with your family or a friend. NOT EVERYONE CAN START A BUSINESS AND WORK FOR THEMSELVES. Most people are too afraid and they show this by conforming to what most everybody does, working for someone else.
Now a work from home business means you operate a business from your home but you do not actually work AT home. An example would be providing a service such as carpet or window cleaning, pet or house sitting or being a nanny. Ever thought of doing something like those?
Most people start such a business by taking a plunge sort to speak. They quit their job, buy the necessary equipment and go out knocking on doors. Not a good idea if it rains a lot where you live. Not a good idea if you don't have money to live on, have a family to support or did not do a lot of research first.
Working from home requires a lot of self discipline. But let's say you know what you want to do and you're going to buy someone else's business with already established income and clients. This might be a better way to go than starting from scratch. But here's some things to think about:
How much do you depend on expensive equipment to get the job done? If it's a lot, you must factor in repair and replacement costs and never become a low baller, someone who does the work for the cheapest price. You will fail, I'll guarantee it.
Are you willing to work seven days a week sometimes and some evenings? People may expect you to work when it's not the usual business hours. And then there's record keeping, billing, phone calls and estimates and taxes to keep account of. Can someone help or will you have to do that as well?
Since you're working for yourself from home you'll need to get your own health insurance unless your spouse covers you both and your family. And yes there may be certain expenses you can write off being self employed, but for the most part, just when your income seems to increase you find out you have to pay in for income and social security taxes. So how do people make it work?
They realize what all these expenses are and they charge accordingly. You may have to make twice or three times as much as when you were an employee to have the same benefits. The advantage of working from home may be that you only need to work for 20 hours a week to earn what you made working 40 hours a week.
Would it be worth it to you if that were the case? Working from home is a great privilege to be cherished. If you get big enough to hire people to do all the work you could be considered an entrepreneur and maybe see what it's like to be a "boss". That has a whole new set of challenges like payroll and workman's comp.
I personally have worked from home and have worked at home doing my online marketing business. Yes. it's nice to get out and do physical work, but as you get older, it's so much nicer to be able to work at home for so many obvious reasons. So will you work from home or work at home?
